Kindergardens and drinking water
As Eco-Lodge we live in close relationship with the local community. We see where help is needed the most. With our development poject MEYU we focus on pre-school education and clean water supply.
Pre-school education is super important in Namibia, but without proper buildings and water supply it’s almost not possible to maintain the education all year round.
Meyu means water
The goal of MEYU is to build in every village a kindergarden and to drill a borehole for the water supply. So far 2 villages got lucky. It’s a good start. The projects are funded by the lodge Riverdance, our friends back home in Switzerland and our guests.
We depend on your generosity
When we had almost no revenues in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid we set up a project on the crowdfunding platform wemakeit and thus were able to continue our development work. Over 500’000 N$ were donated! With this money we built another kindergarden and started the expensive drillings to search for good ground water.
Now after the times of covid the financing of our development work depends again on the success of the lodge and the generosity of our guests.

We made it again in 2022!
The second kindergarden was built quite quickly, but the much needed water supply was difficult to achieve. Finally after expensive drilling, we found drinking water 1 km away at a depth of 70 meters. Lucky us! There is an abundance of water.
Clean water for 2000 people
Now we have not only water for the new kindergarden, but five widely spread water stations supply now up to 2,000 people from Rhudiva and Shadipuera and the local school!
4,000 L Output of solar pump per hour
3,000 m Trenches for the water pipes
30,000 L Capacity of water tanks
This 2nd MEYU project was only possible with the generous support of the RIVERDANCE friends. Further water and education projects are already planned. The demand is huge as our region belongs to the poorest of Namibia. Please keep helping us
Natumera – Thank you very much!
